Vision Before Evidence
If you read my Free Newsletter then you know the story. In case you missed it, here it is. It’s worth retelling. This past weekend I was window shopping for houses. I found one I liked, it checked a lot of boxes. Price, rooms, location, backyard etc. everything that someone looking at a house takes into consideration.
Then it dawned on me. I wasn’t getting excited about the house as whole. Not what it represents but the potential, even the possibilities.

Building A Life
That is Vision Before Ownership. And that is true for anything meaningful.
Like a father leading his family with their vision.
A CEO leading their company with their vision.
A entrepreneur creating a company based on a vision.
A dog owner leading their dog with their vision.
I, myself, have operated from vision for years. I’ve taken risk with no sign of payoffs or rewards. Even with a clear vision, there were challenges and hard times. Of course. Challenges and obstacles don’t go away. But having a vision will keep you moving towards your North Star. I
I’ve been and had visions of:
A Personal Trainer with no clients.
A membership site for dog training with no members.
A podcaster with no listeners.
A book with no end in sight.
Praying about a future no one else can see.
Vision is a MUST for anything meaningful. Taking it a step further, you need BELIEF in your vision.
Once the vision and belief is set. Then you can move with conviction. Then there’s the gap. The gap between vision and evidence, this where doubt lives. It's where people begin questioning themselves.
Maybe this isn't working.
Maybe I'm not good enough.
Maybe I should quit.
Maybe I was wrong.
I've thought those thoughts myself.
When there are no members, no sales, no listeners, no book deal, no house, and no proof that any of it will work, it's easy to believe the vision was foolish.
But that's the price of building anything meaningful.
The vision always arrives first.
The evidence arrives later.
Dog training is no different. When I meet a reactive dog, I don't train the dog standing in front of me. I train the dog I believe they can become.
The owner sees the barking.
I see confidence.
The owner sees pulling on the leash.
I see engagement.
The owner sees chaos.
I see potential.
That's vision before evidence.
The dog doesn't know what they're capable of yet. The owner often doesn't either. That's why leadership matters. Someone has to hold the vision. How your dog moves. Speed, power, skillset. Wondering if progress is being made until the evidence catches up.
No matter what your building, the gap, your belief your vision will be tested.
Don’t quit because there’s no evidence.
Stay consistent.
Stay patient.
Keep moving toward the vision.
One day the evidence will catch up.
